How We Can Help

We can help you save money running your business. We can bring in our data appliance to your network. Many companies spend lots of money building all of the services shown
here. We provide all of these services preloaded and configured on this data appliance. The real savings comes from using Open Source Software (OSS). Because we use OSS, we don't pay licensing to use software. Almost every service that has a commercial product has a free version written by someone else. The one thing a commercial product does for you that some OSS does not is provide you with an easy method to configure the software. This is usually a Graphical User Interface (GUI). OSS usually doesn't have a nice GUI, but requires a user to configure it with options in a configuration file. OSS will often need more expertise to configure correctly. We'll configure it for you giving you the benefits without the headaches.

OSS is almost always offered free of charge. It is written by many people skilled in writing software, and often a single package can have several people writing code. Because several people work together, they often will be able to identify and fix problems quickly, and release a 'patch' or 'upgrade'. OSS can be as good as commercially purchased software. Many times, it has proven to be more stable and reliable than commercial counterparts. One practical example that comes to mind is the use of
Samba on Linux instead of the use of a Windows server. In corporate environments, Windows often must be rebooted at least weekly if not more frequently. Many Unix systems which provide similar services have been running without a reboot for three months to a year. Often times, Unix servers are only rebooted to install patches to prevent problems. In short, by using OSS, we can provide many useful services for no additional cost. Almost all of these software authors are writing to support services on Linux because it's free and offers a lot of services to software authors. These Linux services help integrate these software packages to work together better.
